your story was very heartfelt. i breezed through it the first time, but found myself wanting to read it again and again. how amazing for you to have been able to recognize your childhood pain in your experience with that little boy. it's taken me years of therapy to be able to recognize how my little girl still longs for healing. what a gift once we are able to receive it. i envy that boy for having you to show him how much he matters. lucky little guy!
